How to cancel NordVPN

A clear, step-by-step guide to cancelling your NordVPN Software, plus the things worth checking before you leave.

Before you cancel

  • There's no fixed contract, so you can cancel anytime. Your access simply runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Expect to be offered a retention discount or loyalty deal to make you stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, stand your ground.
  • There may be a notice period, so you can be billed for a short while after you ask to leave. Cancel as early as you can.
  • If you subscribed through Apple, Google or another provider, you must cancel with them, not NordVPN directly.
  • Get a confirmation (on-screen or by email) and keep it as proof of the date you cancelled.

How to cancel NordVPN, step by step

  1. Log in to your Nord Account at my.nordaccount.com.
  2. Open the 'Billing' tab and click 'Cancel' next to 'Auto-renewal', then confirm; the status changes to 'OFF' and you get a confirmation email.
  3. You keep access until the end of the current billing period.
  4. IMPORTANT: turning off auto-renewal does NOT refund you. For a refund within 30 days of your first purchase, contact support via live chat at support.nordvpn.com (or the email form there) and use the 'Refund' button on the eligible payment.
