Cancellation guide
How to cancel iCloud+
A clear, step-by-step guide to cancelling your iCloud+ Software, plus the things worth checking before you leave.
Before you cancel
- There's no fixed contract, so you can cancel anytime. Your access simply runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
- Expect to be offered a retention discount or loyalty deal to make you stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, stand your ground.
- Cancel before your next renewal date to avoid being charged for another period.
- Cancel from the account you actually pay with, and make sure you're the billing owner before you start.
- Get a confirmation (on-screen or by email) and keep it as proof of the date you cancelled.
How to cancel iCloud+, step by step
- Before you start, download or delete anything above the free 5 GB limit, or iCloud stops syncing once you drop under a paid plan.
- On iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, tap 'Subscriptions', then tap 'iCloud+' under Active.
- Tap 'Cancel Subscription' to end iCloud+ (or tap 'See All Plans' to switch to a smaller paid plan instead).
- On Mac: Apple menu > System Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > 'Manage Plan' under iCloud+ Features > 'Cancel Subscription'.
- The cancellation takes effect after your current billing period ends.
