Cancellation guide
How to cancel David Lloyd
A clear, step-by-step guide to cancelling your David Lloyd membership, plus the things worth checking before you leave.
Before you cancel
- You may be in a minimum contract, so leaving early can trigger an early-exit charge. Ask for the exact figure before you agree to anything.
- Expect to be offered a retention discount or loyalty deal to make you stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, stand your ground.
- There may be a notice period, so you can be billed for a short while after you ask to leave. Cancel as early as you can.
- Cancel from the account you actually pay with, and make sure you're the billing owner before you start.
- Always get your cancellation confirmed in writing and keep it.
How to cancel David Lloyd, step by step
- Check your membership type: standard memberships run for at least 12 full calendar months, flexible memberships for at least 3 full calendar months, then continue until you give notice to end.
- Give notice to end your membership. The David Lloyd Clubs app (Help & Feedback section) is the club's recommended way to manage your membership; you can also put it in writing to your home club by email or letter. Verbal notice alone does not reliably count.
- Time it carefully: to end at the earliest date, notice must be received by the first day of the final calendar month. If it arrives later, David Lloyd treats it as received on the first day of the following month, pushing your end date back.
- Keep proof and ask the club to confirm receipt. Chase them if you do not get confirmation.
- You keep paying and keep access through the full notice period until your membership formally ends.
